Ministry and Mission Team

Yearly donations ranging from $400 to $1,000 are sent to the following:
  1. Campus Crudades for Christ - Michelle and Justin Custer, teachers and missionaries who serve in Budapest, Hungary.
  2. Crisis Nurseries - safe houses in Zambia, Africa that care for ages infant to 12-year-old children who suffer from family crises.
  3. Heifer International Project - provides cows to families to help end hunger and poverty.
  4. Presbyterian Border Ministry - assist 14 towns along the US/Mexico border from San Diego, California to McAllen, Texas. Texas towns include El Paso, Eagle Pass, Laredo, and McAllen.
  5. Galveston Seafarers Center - offers recreation and reprieve for sailors while docked in Galveston.
  6. Brazoria County Women's Center - provides care for women and children who have experienced violence or sexual assault in their lives.
  7. Salvation Army - helps many families with utility bills, baby items, and bath and kitchen items.
First Sunday Local Benevolence Offering is a financial gift sent on a quarterly basis to the following:
  • Shriner's Children's Hospitals, Galveston and Houston
  • Brazoria County Women's Center
  • Meals on Wheels
  • HOPE Dental Clinic
  • Salvation Army
  • Joy Gift Offering at Christmas benefits Presbyterian racial ethnic schools and colleges and helps with the Board of Pension's assistance programs.
  • One Great Hour Offering at Easter benefits the Presbyterian Hunger Program, Disaster Assistance, and Self-Development of people.
  • Pentecost Offering 6 weeks after Easter - contributions have been sent to Shriner's Hospitals and HOPE Dental Clinic to help childrenn at-risk.
  • The Ministry & Mission Team hosts sales that contribute to the Joy Gift and One Great Hour Offerings.
DeGEORGE HOMELESS VETERANS SHELTER - This year the M&M Team initiated the "Share the Love" Military Mission. Our congregation donated jackets and blankets in February, hygiene products in May, and coffee and associated items in September to the 100 homeless veterans who live at the DeGeorge shelter in Houston.
The M&M Team provided recovery money to assist victims of Hurricane Ike and the Haiti Earthquake.
The M&M Team also:
  • organizes the congregation to ring the Salvation Army Christmas Bell and "play Santa" to 3-4 families each year.
  • provides a welcome reception to new members in October and March.
  • recruits mission speakers during Worship Service 3 times a year.
  • provides "These Days" daily devotional booklets for the congregation.
  • finances our internet web site
  • makes photographs during the Halloween Fall Festival of each child
